The Makalu 2010 video technology solution

Vislink satelite solution

VISLINK have been the technical authority in all aspects of planning for the successful delivery of video footage off the mountain. They are lending us two wireless camera transmitters that will operate with Sony Go-Pro and Bullet cameras that will be taken to the summit. VISLINK are also lending us the antennas and receivers that make up the complete RF system for the video link between the ascent team and base camp.

The VISLINK equipment will allow us to relay live footage back to the base camp from helmet cameras. When the video has been received at the base camp, the base camp team will edit the footage and send back video diaries to the UK via satellite using the Livewire M-Link media streaming service.

About VISLINK

VISLINK plc is a UK public company manufacturing secure communications equipment for some of the most demanding applications and some of the toughest environments on the planet. The company is a global leader in this area and specialises in wireless, video and IP technologies together with the supporting management systems. VISLINK has manufacturing operations in the UK, Norway and the USA.

In the world of professional television, VISLINK equipment is used to broadcast live from many high profile events, such as Premier League football. Not surprisingly, VISLINK High Definition wireless camera systems were operating in Vancouver during the recent Winter Olympics. Their systems are also used to bring news from the most difficult live television location of all, when broadcasters have to report on a crisis or emergency situation where the local communications infrastructure has been destroyed. For example, VISLINK mobile satellite uplinks delivered live reports from the scene of the 2006 Tsunami in Banda Ache.

VISLINK equipment also enables wireless, video & data communications for law enforcement and public safety applications. At the core of every mission critical situation, is the need for the rapid deployment of reliable communications equipment and VISLINK understand this need. They supply systems for military, public safety and law enforcement customers that support interagency sharing of real time video surveillance on the ground, in the water and in the air. VISLINK equipment is currently in operation supporting British Armed Forces in theatre.
